The Across the Lake Swim Society is dedicated to supporting programs that promote open water swimming skills. The money raised from this event helps fund our Okanagan Swims Program through the YMCA. Our program teaches swimming skills to young swimmers (grade 3) in school district 23. In 2012, $5279.41 was donated to the Y to support the program, which allowed 335 underprivileged kids to receive weekly lessons. In 2013 we increased this amount to $10,000 which sent over 800 3rd graders. Starting in 2014, we have doubled the amount to $20,000 which sends EVERY 3rd grader in School District #23 for free swimming lessons.
